Chamois
Chamois is located in Valtournenche, nestled at 1850 meters on a wide valley and sweet side.
Chamois is not a mountain resort like many others.In the villagecars are not permitted and there is no road connecting to the bottom.
This may seem very strange. As the matter of fact, Chamois is reachable by a cableway, a mule and several trails at high altitude only.
This feature makes it the ideal place for true lovers of nature, beauty, peace and tranquillity.
Climate
The valley of Chamois is placed in the west-east direction. The mountains to the north are a shelter from cold winds. While the home location on the exposed side of the valley to the south makes the climate mild and sunny even in winter.
The town
The City of Chamois is made up of small villages (called "hameaux"), scattered on the sunniest side of the valley. These villages were inhabited by farmers and livestock keepers. Today, they are largely restored, and offer wonderful examples of rural architecture of the Aosta Valley.
Strict planning restrictions and landscaping have helped to preserve intact and untouched throughout the valley, creating the conditions for a selected and sustainable tourism.
